Tolkien Influence

Just a quick note: I've mentioned earlier here of the deaths of more than a 1,000 people due to the flash floods and landslides caused by the recent storms

Obviously, the floods and the landslides were caused by the illegal logging operations in the province of Aurora and Quezon.

However, what people don't know is that the head of the Department of Environment and National Resources, the young Secretary Michael Defensor, is actually a fan of JRR Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings.

This is evident in what I heard over the radio last Friday evening about Defensor and his plan to put a stop to illegal logging throughout the country.

The name of the plan? Operation: Saruman.

Oooh, that's priceless.
