Cat's Claws

'Allo, this cat is back.

Just in case you people are wondering, the insurance of the company that owns the armored car is being processed to fix my car. But despite the "little" accident last week, I still pushed through with last week's road trip, hence my disappearance from the blogosphere. Some interesting stuff then, ranging from my visit to this great place-- a hidden national park that had a waterfall, its water so cold that your feet would get numb just crossing the river-- to the dead boy we saw on the way home.

But before anything else, I'm so chuffed over this gift [identity-protected] gave me.

(Yes, that's Dean's novel I'm using as background to give an idea of the size.)

As you can see, there are two knives in the scabbard: one big and small-- size being relative, of course. Both are made of metal and are quite heavy (again, relatively). Likewise, the edges and the point aren't that sharp unless used with enough force. If you look closely, the pommel and the hilt are designed pretty nicely. They actually remind me of the weapons used by the little troll in the Stephen King movie, Cat's Eye.

The hilt of the big sword can't fit in my hand; however, with judicious handling, I can hold it like a small shiv.

The smaller one is too small to be used except as a throwing knife. However, given how heavy the fancy-dressed pommel is, I'm sure it would fly pretty well.

Pretty, no?

This cat definitely has claws now.
